Situated above the evolving urban fabric of the Melbourne CBD, T Chambers is a barrister’s retreat within the city. Designed to balance focused legal practice with moments of pause, conversation and gathering, the chambers support both individual work and informal hosting within a calm and considered workplace environment.
T Chambers tempers the formality of legal practice through sculptural timber elements, curved forms and softened edges - establishing an environment that feels considered yet welcoming. Lounge seating against the expansive city outlook offers respite from the court precinct below, while timber tones and soft furnishings ground the space in calm and permanence. Natural light and reflective surfaces draw the changing city skyline into the room.
A deliberate relationship with art deepens this throughout - the client's collection animates the room without competing with it. Sally Ross's triptych Rainforest Gondwana gives the room its emotional centre - the painted forest drawing its earthy tones into quiet dialogue with the meeting table below; a mood at once focused, still and grounded amid the pressures of a barrister's chambers. At the room's opposite pole, Matthew Johnson's Lambent Fugue II anchors the lounge to the slower rhythms of the day. Together, the works are not merely displayed but embedded - each in dialogue with the materiality around them, and with one another across the room.
