Founding an identity through the balancing of family, landscape and a history of place, La Quiete intends to etch itself into the character of its site and locale – proposing a potential new future for the Southern Italian township of Aquilonia, Campania Italy. A contemporary interpretation of the Italian Fattoria, La Quiete orients itself around a diverse assemblage of elements that define its site; The undulating mountain range surrounding, the ruins of an old farmhouse and original township, the ever present melody of the adjacent water course, the exhumed boulders peppering the landscape and the community of working farms around the property.

La Quiete provides the framework for a future Agriturismo Project, an Italian cultural program akin to a farm stay, proposing a new future for a township destroyed by an earthquake in the 1930s and rebuilt in its contemporary form. The project features a restaurant offering local produce, with vegetables grown on site, and Capelli wheat, farmed in adjacent plots surrounding, used for traditional local pastas. The restaurant will also cater for workshops such as salami and bread making classes and wine tastings made available to the guests in one of four detached guest houses found on site. A services spine that spans the rear of the site allows the project to function entirely off grid with an integrated solar array, extensive water storage and heat pump mechanical systems. Overlooking the site, the Villa itself provides a home for the project’s principal occupant.​
